LASD admins get raise

Lehighton Area School District’s board of directors agreed to a two-year pact Monday night that calls for its administrators under the Act 93 agreement to get a 3% salary raise for both the 2023-24 and 2024-25 school years.

The compensation plan runs from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2025.

According to the agreement, 16 Lehighton administrators fall under the contract with their salaries currently totaling $1.28 million for the 2022-23 school year. The district will be adding a second school psychologist in 2023-24 with a starting salary of $65,000.

A supervisor of technology position is listed as open. The position’s salary was listed at $90,640 in 2022-23, but drops down to $65,000 in 2023-24 with an anticipated new hire.

Other positions in the contract include assistant to the superintendent, director of special services, high school principal, high school assistant principal, elementary 3-5 principal, elementary K-2 principal, middle school principal, middle school assistant principal/assistant special education, business affairs/human resources coordinator, athletic director, administrative secretary to the superintendent, confidential secretary to the assistant to the superintendent, accountant, director of operations and two school psychologists.

Act 93 administrators/employees are eligible to receive the same health benefit options as provided under the Lehighton Area Education Association Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Each Act 93 administrator/employee who elects health coverage will pay 5% of equivalent rates based on having a yearly physical, or 7.5% without a physical under the PPO plan. Under the Health Savings Account, the premium share is equal to 3% of effective rates.

If they choose not to receive district health benefits, employees will be paid $200 per month.
