Police filed charges against the following people at District Judge Casimir Kosciolek’s office in Lansford:
• Ryan Filer, 36, of Allentown, was charged by Mahoning Township police with retail theft after taking a chainsaw and battery valued at $363 from Walmart on July 31, 2022. He fled in a gold/silver Buick and was involved in a police pursuit in the vehicle Aug. 5, court papers said. A hearing is scheduled July 19.
• Joseph R. Kosalko, 43, of Ludlow Street, Summit Hill, was charged by Mahoning Township police with retail theft and illegal use of a shopping cart after walking out of Lowe’s with two trail cameras valued at $316 without paying for them on April 3, according to court papers. A hearing is scheduled Aug. 2.
• Klayton J. Keeler, 23, of West Mill Street, Nesquehoning, was charged by borough police with strangulation, harassment and two counts of simple assault following a physical domestic dispute June 19. He was arraigned and released on $5,000 unsecured bail. A hearing is scheduled Wednesday.
• Colleen M. Smela, 61, of South Street, Jim Thorpe, was charged by Mahoning Township police with retail theft after Walmart asset protection detained her trying to leave the store with $375 in merchandise Jan. 9, court papers said. A hearing is scheduled July 9.
• Michael S. Herman, 25, of Valley View Drive, Lehighton, was charged by Mahoning Township police with possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after sheriff’s deputies picked him up on an arrest warrant April 25, court papers said. Officers found suspected methamphetamine, a small amount of marijuana and related paraphernalia. A hearing is scheduled July 19.
