Schuylkill County OKs courthouse improvements

The part of the Schuylkill County courthouse that is home to the commissioners and other administrative offices will be getting a $31,000 - or more - upgrade.

Commissioners on Wednesday approved a project that will replace and install new roof leader lining, and demolish and reinstall piping and drains at the annex complex.

The cost is based on site observations. Once the walls are opened up and actual conditions are verified, the cost may increase.

The project will be done by Antz Energy Systems, Shenandoah.

In another project, $38,190 was moved within the Public Works Department to pay for the replacement of 60 thermostats in the courthouse.

The project will save money on energy costs, said county Financial Director Paul E. Buber.

A new roof was put on the annex in 2018 for $168,951.
