Classic cars take center stage in Palmerton Saturday

Road warriors with an affinity for a wide assortment of wheels are in luck.

They can track their favorite concept cars, classics, essentially the whole kit and caboodle at the 34th annual Palmerton Car Show.

Hosted by The Pace-Makers Association, the event will be held rain or shine on Saturday. Registration is at 9 a.m., and the event goes until 3 p.m.

Dale Steigerwalt, public relations, said dash plaques will be handed out to the first 300 cars to go through registration.

Steigerwalt said a total of 28 awards will be announced at 2:30 p.m. for the following categories:

• Best Power Wheels (for the kids only)

• Best Convertible

• Boy’s Choice (Ages 13-16)

• Girl’s Choice (Ages 13-16)

• Best Paint Job

• Best Pickup Truck

• Best Graphics

• Best Street Rod

• Borough Council Choice (chosen by a member of borough council)

• Mayors Choice (Chosen by the mayor of the borough)

• Best Grocery Getter

• Highest 4x4 Truck (Ground to highest part of cab).

• Best Motorcycle

• Best Rat Rod

• Furthest Driven

• Best Getaway Car

• Best Engine

• Best Interior

• Best Tuner Car (Foreign or Domestic)

• Best “Under Construction”

• Best Pro Street

• Best Muscle Car

• Best Corvette

• Best Late Model (2000 and Up)

• Pace-Makers Association Award for the Most Vehicles by One Club (Monetary Award)

• Oldest Vehicle

• Most Uncomfortable Ride

• Best Presentation

Steigerwalt said that proceeds from the event benefit local youth recreational and sports organizations.

“This past year, we officially eclipsed the $100,000 mark in donations given back to the community,” Steigerwalt said. “That was a huge milestone.”
