State police at Fern Ridge - Crashes

State police at Fern Ridge report the following crashes:

• Dean C. Wanzie, 27, of Nescopeck, suffered serious injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 9:43 a.m. May 4 on Interstate 80 in East Side Borough.

Police said he needed to be extricated by emergency personnel from the 2015 Ford F-350 pickup he was driving. He was flown by helicopter to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

Police said the vehicle he was driving traveled off the right shoulder of the roadway, struck a tree and overturned.

• James G. Nugent, 52, of Effort, was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 3:45 a.m. May 4 on Sugar Hollow Road in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said he was transported by Lehigh Valley International Airport Fire Department personnel to the St. Luke’s Hospital. The extent of his injuries is unknown.

Police said he was driving a 2003 Toyota Tundra northbound when it traveled off the right side of the road and struck a culvert and cable stabilizer for a utility pole, coming to rest about 50 feet off the roadway.

• David M. Griffith, 45, of Kunkletown, was cited after a one-vehicle crash at 1:03 p.m. May 12 on Lakeside Drive in Chestnuthill Township. He was uninjured.

• An Effort man swerved his vehicle to avoid striking a car that entered the roadway in front of his, but he struck guard rails off Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township at 12:01 p.m. April 17.

Police said Ricardo R. Madhoo, 55, was uninjured in the incident.

Police said the other driver of the Corolla made no attempt to stop.

• A 17-year-old boy and his passenger, Kristen E. McCree, 46, both of Saylorsburg, escaped injuries in a one-vehicle mishap at 5:53 p.m. May 7 on Evergreen Hollow Road in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said he was driving a 2019 GMC Terrain that left the road and hit a tree.

The vehicle needed to be towed, police said.
