Lehighton State Police - DUI

State police at Lehighton reported on several driving under the influence and drug possession cases:

• A 34-year-old Effort man is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after police stopped him for a Motor Vehicle Code violation at 2 a.m. May 14.

It happened at the intersection of Route 209 and Greenview Road in Chestnuthill Township.

The man was driving a 2020 Mercedes-Benz.

• A 64-year-old Lansford woman is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance.

Police said she drove her 2017 Subaru to the barracks in Towamensing Township at 10:17 p.m. May 17. Upon speaking with the driver, police said they determined she was driving under the influence.

• Jorge Tirado, 23, of Hazleton, was cited for possession of a controlled substance after a traffic stop police made at 3:57 a.m. May 6 at the intersection of East Catawissa Street and Lehigh Avenue in Jim Thorpe Borough.

Police said he was a passenger in a 2021 Subaru Legacy that was stopped for a routine traffic stop and was found to be in possession of marijuana.

• A 31-year-old Hazleton man is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after a one-vehicle crash at 11:23 p.m. May 20 on Lincoln Avenue in Bowmanstown.

Police said he was driving a 2017 Lexus at the time. No details on the crash were provided by police.

• A 22-year-old Albrightsville man is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after a traffic stop conducted at 2:42 a.m. May 6 on East Catawissa Street in Nesquehoning.

Police said he was stopped for Motor Vehicle Code violations while driving a 2021 Subaru Legacy.

• A 41-year-old Palmerton woman is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance at 1:25 a.m. May 20 at the intersection of Princeton Avenue and Third Street in Palmerton.

Police said she was stopped for Motor Vehicle Code violations while driving a 2009 Nissan Altima.
