Local roundup: Results from May 9

Northern Lehigh softball posted a pair of victories on Tuesday.

SOFTBALL

ESN-No. Lehigh

In the first of two games at home, Northern Lehigh rolled to an 11-1 non-league victory over East Stroudsburg North.

The Bulldogs only had four hits, but benefited from walks and errors.

Jordyn Hemingway had a single, two walks, three runs and an RBI for the winners, while Skyeler Horack added a double, run and RBI.

Lilyanah Watt and Arabella Heintzelman both chipped in with a hit and a run. Kylee Snyder and Peyton Hoffman each scored a pair of runs.

Watt earned the pitching win, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out six.

Amanda King accounted for the Timberwolves’ only run with a solo home run.

Saucon Vy.-No. Lehigh

In its second game, Northern Lehigh edged Colonial League foe Saucon Valley by a 10-9 score.

Peyton Hoffman finished with three hits, two runs and an RBI to lead the Bulldogs offensively.

Kylee Snyder added a pair of hits and knocked in two runs.

The two wins allowed Nolehi to end the regular season with a 13-7 overall record and a 9-7 league mark.

For the Panthers (4-14; 3-13), Taylor Fink had three hits, three runs and two RBIs. One of her hits was a home run.

Allen-Northwestern

Northwestern closed its regular season in style, no-hitting Allen in a 16-0 three-inning victory.

Marissa Christman and Emma Freeman combined for the no-hitter. Christman tossed the first inning, striking out two, while Freeman fanned five during her two frames.

Freeman also collected two hits and two RBIs at the plate, while Christman added a hit and two RBIs.

The Tigers’ Rylee McGinley contributed a pair of hits, one a double, and scored twice. Jackie Wehr chipped in with a pair of hits.

Northwestern improved to 18-2, while Allen slipped to 2-16.

Lourdes-Tamaqua

Paige Bumbulsky pitched a three-hit shutout as Tamaqua registered a 3-0 Schuylkill League victory over Lourdes.

Bumbulsky finished with 15 strikeouts and only walked two.

Megan Linkhorst knocked in the game’s first run, singling home Megan Lavine in the second inning. The Raiders’ other runs scored on errors.

Tamaqua improved to 6-12 overall and 4-9 in the league, while Lourdes also dropped to 4-9 in Schuylkill League play.

Jim Thorpe-Shenandoah

Jim Thorpe only had six hits, but took advantage of 13 walks to help gain a 17-8 non-league victory over Shenandoah Valley.

Hannah Zacharias had two hits, walked three times, scored four runs and also knocked in four to lead the Olympian offense.

Melina Schwartz finished with a hit and three runs, walking four times.

The winners also received a hit, an RBI and three runs from Madison Lordi, while Isabella Lloyd contributed a hit and two runs. Oleksa McAndrew and Kaylyn Costello both added a pair of runs scored.

The win upped Thorpe’s record to 2-16.

For the Devils, now 2-15, Deangelo had three hits, four runs and two RBIs.

Notre Dame GP-Marian

Notre Dame Green Pond ended Marian’s six-game winning streak, handing the Fillies a 16-1 non-league loss.

Hannah Lilly paced the Crusaders with two hits, one a double, and three runs scored.

Marian’s run came on a Morgan Kelly double and an Anna Grabosky RBI single.

The loss dropped the Fillies to 14-5, while Notre Dame improved to 8-11.

BASEBALL

Saucon Vy.-No. Lehigh

Northern Lehigh nearly pulled off an upset in its season finale, falling 9-8 to Saucon Valley in Colonial League action.

Jackson Van Norman had two hits, one a double, and two RBIs for the Bulldogs, who led 7-3 after five innings.

Tyler Fenstermaker finished with a hit and three runs, while Nick Buskirk walked twice and scored a pair of runs.

Nolehi ended the year with a 3-17 overall record and a 3-14 mark in CL play.

The Panthers, who received a two-run homer from Rick Werkheiser, ended the regular season at 17-2 and 16-2.
