April 27, 1955 - Tamaqua receives firsts from 10 different athletes, including a record-breaking one from Michael Stebilla, to lead the Blue Raiders to a 78-26 track & field victory over Summit Hill. Stebilla wins the shot put with a mark of 48-9 1/2 to break his own record he set the previous year. Other field event winners for Tamaqua include Clarence Fusselman (javelin), Joe Kleponis (broad jump), Jan Van Arsdale (high jump), John Prysbeck (discus) and Luther Miller (pole vault). Billy Fritz (100), Frank Meck (220) and Frank Ike (440) each win an event on the track and team with John Zeigler to set a new school record (3:27) in the four-lap relay. The Blue Raiders also receive a victory in the mile from Herb Welsh.
