A new barber shop has opened in Lehighton.
After finishing barber school, Anthony Bekesy took the opportunity to open his own barber shop when Michelle's Hair Salon announced its closing."I got my license last spring, and I would rather do my own thing than work for someone else. The opportunity came to open this place, so I took it," Bekesy said. His business, Anthony's Barber Shop, opened on March 4.Despite Bekesy's age of 21, opening his first business was not a challenge, and the shop has been doing well."The morning I first opened, I had three people already waiting," he said.He offers fades, shape-ups, gentlemen's cuts, tapers and more.Bekesy's business also offers a neck lather, which is a technique he learned from another barber and is rare in shops these days.He does cuts for all ages, priced at $13 for a standard cut and $10 for seniors ages 60 and up.The shop is located on 170 S. Third St. in Lehighton.Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
