Hunters’ Night Out fundraiser is April 15 in Ryan Twp.
Calling all hunters and outdoor enthusiasts:
The Locust Valley Chapter of Whitetails Unlimited is planning a special evening of prizes, food, auctions and raffles.
The “Hunters’ Night Out” will be April 15 at the Ryan Township Fire Hall, 945 Barnesville Dr. (Route 54), in Barnesville.
“It is a good time for all,” said Dave Morgan, president of the local chapter.
The Locust Valley group began about 15 years ago, and has hosted a Hunters’ Night Out for the past few years - except when COVID-19 restrictions put it on hold.
“When people come to our outing I found that in this area, they want to win guns,” Morgan said. “When we first started with the banquets, we would have 8 to 10 guns. Now we have about 50.”
The guns and other prizes will be awarded through gun board raffles and bucket raffles. There will also be merchandise auctions.
Games, raffles and a social hour starts at 4 p.m., and a buffet-style dinner begins at 6 p.m.
Morgan said that proceeds will again benefit area youths.
“When it comes to the banquet, it will all go back to the kids - to youth programs at local area outdoors clubs,” he said.
For example, the local chapter has donated to the West Penn Archery Club, which has a program for youths, and to youth events hosted by the Bear’s Head Sportsmen Association in Delano and the Valley View Gun Club in Valley View.
“It is all for a good cause. After the bills are paid, it goes back to the local chapter so we can distribute it to the youth programs,” Morgan said.
There are sponsorship opportunities available, and those who purchase tickets for eight people or more can become a table captain and receive special prizes and drawing entries. The cost of tickets include a 1-year membership to Whitetails Unlimited. Ticket deadline is April 14.
