N. Lehigh to submit new comprehensive plan to PDE

Northern Lehigh School District plans to submit its newest comprehensive plan to the Pennsylvania Department of Education,

On an 8-0 vote, the school board last week approved the Comprehensive Guidance (339) Plan from July 2023 through June 2026. Director Robert Kern was absent.

“The plan was developed over the course of this year with our core team and additional stakeholders from the community, including the students who also sit on our advisory board and are directly impacted by the plan,” said Assistant Superintendent Dr. Tania Stoker.

Stoker added that the comprehensive guidance plan was posted on the district’s website after the education committee in February, and has been posted through Monday night’s board meeting.

“We did not receive any public feedback on the plan, but we did make some minor adjustments in-house to it just to meet the maximum upload size,” she said. “Within the portal, there’s only so much that we can upload with regard to each of the pieces that they require.”

Stoker added that the district is not required to post it publicly, or bring it to the board for a vote for approval.

“However, with regard to being transparent, we like to bring all of our comprehensive planning to the board, so we are doing that this evening so that all of our information with regard to college and career programming is public,” she said. “Once approved, we will submit the plan to PDE by the deadline of March 31.”

Stoker especially thanked the Core team of Michael Strohl and Allison Chruscial who is the department leader, and also the school counselors for all of the hours they put into creating the plan, as well as all of the members of their advisory board who are listed in the plan and many of which are in this room.”

“So, thank you everyone,” she said. “It was truly a collaborative effort.”

She said last month the district was notified that its comprehensive plan had been accepted by PDE.

Stoker said that includes all of the sub-plans and revisions that were submitted over the past few months.

Superintendent Matthew J. Link congratulated Stoker at that time for leading the district through another successful comprehensive plan process.
