Fire damages garage in Summit Hill
By RON GOWER
A Summit Hill garage had heavy interior damage after a fire early Friday afternoon.
The fire was in a single-story, aluminum structure to the rear of a property in the 200 block of West Holland Street.
The fire was contained to the building’s interior, which reportedly was used for storage.
Summit Hill Chief of Police Todd Woodward and officer Brian Horos were the first to arrive on scene.
Woodward said when they arrived, there were “wisps of smoke coming from the roof” and the aluminum on the side of the garage was “very hot.”
Firefighters from Summit Hill, Lansford and Coaldale responded and were on scene for more than an hour.
There were no injuries.
Summit Hill Fire Chief Shawn Hoben said the cause is undetermined and a state police fire marshal will be asked to assist in the investigation.
Local fire police assisted with traffic control. The Lehighton Ambulance personnel also responded.
