Weatherly church starts program on addictions
With God, all things are possible.
That’s the message a Weatherly church is spreading in a new group to help those battling addictions.
Faith Church recently launched Celebrate Recovery to help people struggling and in need of a Christ-centered, 12-step recovery program. Celebrate Recovery is open to anyone struggling with hurt, pain, or addictions of any kind that is controlling your life.
Pastor Sal Reyes said the new program is a way to reach out to the community and bring the love of Christ through freedom from addiction.
“It’s anything, any hurt, habit or hangup that has you,” he said. “We’re here and we’re accredited with Celebrate Recovery.
“If you apply yourself and you show up, you will be discipled and you will find that your life becomes transformed.”
Celebrate Recovery is in 37 countries and has an approximate 85% success rate for people who go through the program.
Doors open at the church, located at 202 Carbon St., at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday evenings and the service begins at 6 p.m.
Reyes said that the group is a safe place for community and freedom from issues and aims to help those set aside time for prayer and worship as a way of getting in touch with Jesus to help break free from the pain they are feeling.
There are large group sessions, as well as open share small groups so people can connect with other attendees who are facing similar struggles.
There is also a step study small group for those wishing to dig deeper into their past choices and work through their pain to better understand how to let go and live a Christ-filled life.

Celebrate Recovery was initially started in 1991 at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California, as a way to reach out to those battling addiction and provide a safe space to work through their problems.
Over the years, it has grown to over 35,000 churches worldwide that participate in the program.
If you want to join, Reyes said all you have to do is show up on Thursday evenings.
“Everybody’s welcome,” he said.
