Marian continued its winning streak by rolling past Weatherly on Thursday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Weatherly-Marian

Marian extended its winning streak to 16 straight games with a 68-16 Schuylkill League victory over Weatherly.

The Fillies’ Frankie Martinelli led all scorers with 21 points, 15 of them coming during a 25-0 third quarter.

The winners, now 19-1 overall and 12-0 in the league, also received 19 points from Fatikha Tikhtova.

Kelly Reiner paced the Wreckers (4-15; 1-11) with nine points.

Lehighton-Pine Grove

A fast start by Pine Grove resulted in a 45-33 Schuylkill League victory over Lehighton.

Marissa Stewart scored 14 of her game-high 19 points in the first quarter as the Cardinals raced to a 22-4 lead.

The winners, who improved to 12-8 overall and 8-5 in the league, also received 14 points from Kailen Felty.

Taylor Bowman led the Indians (5-16; 3-10) with 14 points, while Leah Uyvari chipped in with eight.

LEHIGHTON

North Schuylkill remained undefeated in Schuylkill League play after cruising to a 63-35 victory over Jim Thorpe.

Kamryn Mengel scored a game-high 21 points for the Spartans, who improved to 17-2 overall and 13-0 in the league.

Winners of 11 straight games, North Schuylkill also received 13 points from both Savannah Gawrylik and Maddy Wetzel.

The Olympians, now 10-10 and 5-8, received a team-high 18 points from Mackenzie Yuhas.

SWIMMING

Tamaqua-Blue Mountain

Blue Mountain swept Tamaqua in Schuylkill League competition.

The Eagle boys posted a 112-58 victory, while their girls rolled to a 127-58 decision.

The Blue Raiders managed three wins in the meet with Jathan Krall (200 free) and Vincenzo Valentine (diving) earning firsts in boys action, and Lexi Buchala (200 free) taking an event in the girls.

Tamaqua’s boys team finished the season with an 8-5 overall record, and a 6-3 mark in the league. The Raider girls ended 6-7, and 2-7.

Weatherly-Panther Valley

Weatherly used a balanced attack with eight different players scoring as it topped Panther Valley 31-27.

Mitchell Knock led the Wreckers with nine points.

Kaden Koerbler scored all 11 of his points in the first quarter to lead the Panthers, while Tyler Hall added seven.

7TH GRADE

Weatherly-Panther Valley

Panther Valley defeated Weatherly, 56-31.

The Panthers’ Chase McArdle led all scorers with 20 points, while Tyler Hall chipped in with 17. PV’s Cy Maynard chipped in with 10 points.

Mitchel Knock paced the Wreckers with nine points, while Kyle Reiner finished with eight.
