The Lehigh County Coroners office released information on a woman killed Sunday morning in Allentown.

The coroner’s office was notified by Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg at 4:45 a.m. about the death of a shooting victim.

The woman, dead on arrival at the hospital, was identified as Blessing Alida Taveras, 28, of Schnecksville. She was pronounced dead at 5:25 a.m.

The incident occurred on Sunday at approximately 4:15 a.m. in the 1000 Block of Union Boulevard, Allentown, Lehigh County. The coroner’s office said the cause of death is a gunshot wound, and the manner is homicide.

An autopsy is scheduled for 8 a.m. Monday the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office & Forensic Center.

In addition to the coroner’s office, this death is being investigated by the Allentown Police Department, the Lehigh County Homicide Task force, with assistance from the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office.
