Jim Thorpe’s Maggy Hallihan and Panther Valley’s Riley McArdle were named Schuylkill League Volleyball Player of the Year award winners for their respective divisions.

Hallihan and McArdle were part of an impressive showing by Times News area teams that saw 11 additional local players receive first team honors.

Hallihan shared Division I POY honors with Pine Grove’s Kailey Felty. Nativity’s Emma Bolich was the league’s Division II POY. McArdle captured POY honors in Division III.

Among the area players who were named first team all-stars in Division 1 were Jim Thorpe’s Brooke Mitzen and Brianna Snisky; and Lehighton’s Lorah Thomas and Haley Ginder.

Division III first team all-stars included Julia Meiss, Megan Paisley, Fatikha Tikhtova and Jenna Goff of Marian; and Natalie Vermillion, Morgan Orsulak and Emma Dacey of Panther Valley.

Local players on the Division I second team were Lily Kerschner and Makenna Snyder of Lehighton, and Leah Figura of Jim Thorpe.

Division III second team selections included Abbey Kluck and Megan Reaman of Marian; Mikayla Yuricheck, Molly Newton and Caroline Breslin of Panther Valley; and Taylor Davidovich of Weatherly.

Players from the area who received honorable mention status in Division I were Lyla Kershner and Mia Snyder of Lehighton; Olivia Calcano of Jim Thorpe; and Sarah Coccio of Tamaqua.

Division III honorable mention honors went to Weatherly’s Rebecca Schell and Abby Paisley.
