Lehigh County man pleads guilty to child pornography charges

A Lehigh County man pleaded guilty in Carbon County court on Monday to child pornography charges.

Matthew J. Dvorshak, 38, of Catasauqua, entered guilty pleas to five counts filed against him including two counts each of disseminating photo/film of child sex acts and child pornography; and one count criminal use of a communication facility, all felony counts.

Judge Steven R. Serfass, who accepted the pleas, told Dvorshak that he faces a minimum sentence of somewhere between 12 and 24 months up to a maximum of 120 months.

Dvorshak was charged by agents of the state attorney general’s office special investigation unit.

On July 9, 2020, investigators received information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children CyberTip’s of suspected child pornography being uploaded with images of child sex acts. A warrant was obtained and Dvorshak’s internet provider gave the subscriber account information. A search warrant was then executed.

Troopers said the images were on the defendant’s cellphone and later deleted.

Since the charges fall under the provisions of Megan’s Law, sentencing was deferred so Dvorshak can be evaluated by the state sexual offenders assessment board to determine if he is a sexual violent predator. Serfass also ordered the probation office to prepare a presentence investigation report.
