The Friends of Tuscarora and Locust Lake State Parks will meet Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Tuscarora State Park Visitor Center in Barnesville. All are welcome.

The volunteer project will run from 10 a.m. to noon at the Spirit of Tuscarora trail head. Bring gloves and water and wear sturdy footwear for trail maintenance.

The group was recently selected as the Schuylkill County Conservation Organization of the Year for 2022 by the Schuylkill Conservation District.

The organization exists as a group of stewards that maintain the educational, cultural and recreational value of the parks. In the 14 months since its inception, the group has worked to preserve and protect the parks. It partners with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, local businesses and other organizations.

New members are welcome.
