Rush Township road crews are in the process of filling potholes on township streets.
A discussion about road repairs was held during Thursday evening’s board of supervisors meeting, when one resident called the potholes “atrocious.”
Board Chairman Robert Leibensperger said crews are using cold patch to fill the problem areas.
But in the near future, they’ll turn to hot patch.
“They’re filling them as they go along. They got 50 other things going on - cutting back brush, cutting shoulders, so they are doing potholes (when they can),” he said.
Crews have used about 50 tons of cold patch.
“They’re supposed to go out and hot patch major sections of road because you can’t just put cold patch in for long stretches,” Leibensperger said.
The township crew has a list of streets where potholes are the worst. Among them are portions of Carmen, John, Oak and Cumberland streets.
“They promised that they are going to do them. They have a lot of hot patching,” Leibensperger said.
In another matter, the board approved a number of waivers to the C.M. Postupack subdivision plan. The township’s planning commission reviewed and recommended that supervisors approve the waivers for the land development along the Ben Titus Road.
Supervisors said the township’s administrative office will be closed on Sept. 5 in observance of Labor Day.
Garbage collection for Sept. 5 will be Sept. 6, and the Sept. 9 collection will be Sept. 10.
