State police at Lehighton

State police at Lehighton reported on the following incidents:

• On Aug. 6 at 1:25 p.m. troopers responded to the 400 block of 57 Drive, in Towamensing Township, Carbon County, to pick up John Peters, 52, of Kunkletown, on an outstanding bench warrant for failure to appear for a driving under the influence case.

Peters ignored troopers’ commands to surrender and fled into the woods. He was located and taken to the county prison in Nesquehoning on the warrant. He was also charged with resisting arrest.

• Police reported they were summoned at 6:50 p.m. July 25 to a location on Little Gap Road in Lower Towamensing Township to stop a fight that involved multiple people outside a residence.

Police said charges are pending the completion of their investigation.

• On Aug. 7 at 10:55 a.m. troopers responded to the 2300 block of East Lizard Creek Road in East Penn Township, Carbon County, for an ongoing neighbor dispute. As a result Caitlin Kugler, 30, and Timothy Yanchek, 54, both of Lehighton, were both cited for disorderly conduct. The investigation is continuing.

• On Aug. 7 at 12:10 a.m. troopers conducted a traffic stop of a 2010 Ford Focus at Forest Inn and Boyer Farm roads in Lower Towamensing Township, Carbon County, for a vehicle code violation. Police determined the driver, a 20-year-old man from Palmerton, was driving under the influence of alcohol. He refused a chemical test. Troopers said he will be charged.

On Aug. 7 at 1:03 a.m. along Camp Trexler Road in Polk Township, Monroe County, a 37-year-old man from Stroudsburg, who troopers declined to identify, physically harassed a 28-year-old woman from Stroudsburg during a domestic dispute. He was charged with harassment - physical contact.

On Aug. 5 at 9:51 a.m. troopers conducted a traffic stop at Iron Street and East Alley in Lehighton of a 1995 Mercedes-Benz C280, for a vehicle code violation. The driver, a 50-year-old man from Ashfield, was suspected of DUI of a controlled substance. Also, he was in possession of suspected controlled substances and drug paraphernalia.

Police did not identify suspects in the DUI cases but said criminal charges are pending test results, troopers said.
