A Lansford man faces charges after he and several others assaulted a man working at a neighboring property.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Sgt. Shawn Nunemacher of the Lansford Police Department in the case against Edwin Acevedo:
At 4:56 p.m. last Aug. 15, then Lansford Borough Police Chief Jack Soberick was dispatched to the 200 block of East Kline Street around the 200 block of East Bertsch Street.
Soberick spoke to the victim who said he was installing a fence to the rear of the property in the 200 block of East Bertsch Street and while digging holes, was confronted by Robert Dietrich, who began yelling about the holes and unplugged the auger he was using.
The man said Dietrich began threatening to shove the auger in his mouth and then up his nose.
Acevedo, 24, and Jayseth Hargett began swearing at him and calling him names for digging the holes.
The victim said they were claiming the alleyway could not be blocked, and that when he disagreed with them, they got in his face and began yelling at him.
The victim said the men began kicking and hitting him, so he attempted to kick at them to stop the assault.
The victim said that when it was over, he could not stand on his right knee and his nose was bleeding.
He was diagnosed with a fractured pinkie, head contusion, and a right knee injury that required a specialist.
Acevedo, Dietrich and Hargett face charges on two counts of simple assault; and one count each of aggravated assault and disorderly conduct.
They are scheduled to have preliminary hearings this week before District Judge Casimir T. Kosciolek of Lansford.
