ADA ramp project to cost Bowmanstown over $80K

A project involving eight ADA ramps will cost Bowmanstown over $80,000.

Borough engineer Jessica Rehrig informed borough council last week that the sole bid received from Lehigh Asphalt for the various ADA Ramp Project came in at $81,256.

Rehrig said the borough would be responsible for $3,536 above the grant award amount of $77,730, and any change orders if required.

The Carbon County Commissioners approved the contract with Lehigh Asphalt last Thursday.

Rehrig said a preconstruction meeting will be scheduled after the official award notice.

The eight ADA ramps will be designed as part of the Community Development Block Grant funds from fiscal year 2019.

The money has already been awarded to the borough.

Locations include two ramps at the Lime Street/Ore Street intersection; two at the Ore Street/Stony Hill intersection; two at the Mill Street/Apple Street intersection; and two at the Forge Street/Apple Street intersection.

Also on Tuesday, council on a 3-2 vote agreed to purchase an underground utility locator for PA1 calls at a cost of $2,637.

Councilman Darren Thomas, Councilwoman Donna Winter and council President Pam Leiby were in favor.

Councilman Rob Moyer and Councilwoman Kara Scott were opposed.

Councilman William Ravert and Councilwoman Candace Rodrigues were absent.
