The public is invited to a celebration of everything that makes Delaware Water Gap special as the historic borough recognizes its founding more than 200 years ago.

Founders Day will be celebrated on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. throughout the town, beginning with a pancake breakfast from 8-11 a.m. at the Delaware Water Gap Fire Department.

Local performers will be on the Celebration of the Arts stage near the Castle Inn from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

There will be Live music by the “Hot Takes Trio” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church gazebo and “Doc Papa and the Renegade Ramblers” from noon to 3 p.m. across from Sycamore Grille.

For those interested in local history and art, the Antoine Dutot Museum & Gallery, located in an 1850s brick schoolhouse off Main Street, will be open all day. A guided walking tour of the history of Delaware Water Gap and the iconic Castle Inn, built in 1906 and was the location of music icon Fred Waring’s music empire, will be available at noon, 1, 2 and 3 p.m.

An arts and crafts vendor show will be held outside along Delaware Avenue from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and at the town firehouse. There is a bake sale at the Church of the Mountain from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

At 11:30 a.m., a train from the Steamtown National Historical Site in Scranton will arrive at the Delaware Water Gap train station, bringing visitors to the town for the festivities. The train is scheduled to leave the station at 4 p.m.

Another highlight of the day will be at noon when Pocono Wildlife Rehabilitation Center’s “Animal Ambassadors” stop by to meet visitors with lunch at the Village Farmer & Bakery on Broad Street.

A free booklet containing a map and information about Founders Day activities will be available the day of the event at most downtown businesses.

Delaware Water Gap is easily accessible from Exit 310 of Interstate 80, or by following Route 611 south from Stroudsburg or north from Portland.
