Carbon County court — ARD
Ten people were placed in Carbon County’s Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program on Friday by Judge Joseph J. Matika on driving under the influence charges.
If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program, their record will be wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete it, or are revoked from it, then they would face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.
All were placed for a year and ordered to render 50 hours of community service with other conditions:
Matthew Joseph Bizarre, 30, of Lehighton, was arrested on Feb. 20, by state police at Lehighton along Route 248 in Franklin Township. A test showed a 0.19 BAC.
He was assessed $650 for the cost of the program and license suspended for 60 days.
Justin C. Haines, 23, of Lehighton, was arrested on Jan. 13 by Palmerton police along Mauch Chunk Road for DUI of a controlled substance.
He was assessed $600 and license suspended for 60 days.
Sean Michael Smyth, 49, of Lansford, was arrested on Nov. 24, 2020, by Weatherly police along Plane Street for DUI of a controlled substance.
He was assessed $600 and license suspended for 60 days.
Angela Marie Valania, 57, of Lehighton, was arrested on Nov. 27, 2021, by state police at Lehighton along Lizard Creek Road in Bowmanstown, for DUI of a controlled substance.
She was assessed $600 and license suspended for 60 days.
Joshua Cabrera, 26, of Hazleton, was arrested on June 5, 2020, by Franklin Township police along Route 209 after being involved in a hit-and-run crash.
He was assessed $650 and license suspended for 60 days.
Tamara Leigh Quinn,Seth Richard Gerenza, 22, of Sugarloaf, was arrested on May 7, 2021, by state police at Hazleton along Hudson Drive in Banks Township, for DUI of a controlled substance.
He was assessed $650 and license suspended for 60 days.
Robert Richard Miller, 62, of McAdoo, was arrested on Aug. 12, 2021, by state police at Hazleton along Oak Street in Banks Township, for DUI of a controlled substance.
He was assessed $600 and license suspended for 60 days.
Isaiah M. Reichberg, 26, of Brooklyn, New York, was arrested on April 18, 2021, by state police at Lehighton along Little Gap Road in Lower Towamensing Township. No BAC was listed in the complaint.
He was assessed $650 and license suspended for 60 days.
Floyd I. Wright Jr., 40, of Scottsville, Virginia, was arrested on Nov. 9, 2021, by state police at Fern Ridge along State Street in East Side Borough, for DUI of alcohol. No BAC was listed.
He was assessed $600 and license suspended for 60 days.
Each defendant must also pay court costs of over $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
