Sherkness allows a double in the first and a single in the second before tossing hitless ball the rest of the way. The left-hander, who improves his season record to 8-1, finishes with 15 strikeouts. The Colts, coached by Charlie Connely, score all their runs in the third inning. Sherkness starts the rally with a single and Mike Kmetz follows with a double. Both runners score on an error. Later in the frame, Tony McCullion delivers an RBI single.
