A Taco Bell restaurant is coming to Rush Township.
The fast food chain is eyeing a site at the intersection of Claremont Avenue (Route 309) and Tide Road in the village of Hometown. The property is near the southern entrance to Walmart, Rush Township supervisor Robert Leibensperger noted.
During Thursday’s board meeting, supervisors approved several waivers to the Taco Bell’s land development plans.
Among them are to not provide a traffic impact study or a hydrogeologic study.
No one from Taco Bell attended the meeting, but representatives from the chain had approached Rush officials in 2019 about building a restaurant.
At that point, plans were to construct a 2,753-square-foot building that would seat 66 patrons.
The land is owned by Tamaqua Associates and is part of the Hometown Commons retail development.
Taco Bell’s closest restaurants are in Lehighton, Brodheadsville, Hazleton and St. Clair.
