Monroe commissioners honor group’s work

Monroe County Commissioners’ Chairman Sharon Laverdure presented a proclamation to the nonprofit organization Roots Living Ministry in Stroudsburg.

“Since May 2022 is Mental Health Awareness Month, the commissioners would like to commend you and thank you for all the work and help you provide to the community,” she said.

Some of the ways Roots Living Ministry helps is by increasing mental health awareness through peer-to-peer support groups led by certified mental health facilitators and mental health first aiders, social service referrals; such as housing assistance, rent/utility assistance, emergency assistance, welfare assistance, as well as many other ways. Maria Martinez and her daughter Kadriana Martinez accepted the proclamation for Roots Living Ministry.

Three other proclamations were awarded to Eagle Scouts: Alec Shonk, Sean Droll and Justin Rankel.
