Carbon County commissioners
The Carbon County Commissioners acted on the following items during their weekly meeting on Thursday.
• Approved the submission of a grant application for funding from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency for the Carbon County Intermediate Punishment program.
The application for $42,405 would cover a partial salary for one adult probation officer, the purchase of drug testing supplies and pay for the treatment for offenders who are not eligible for Medical Assistance, outpatient group and individual therapy.
• Approved awarding the contract for the parking booth reconstruction project to low bidder, Jay Henges Enterprises Inc. of Earth City, Missouri, at a bid of $36,460.43.
• Approved purchasing a disposer and dishwasher from Eleven Four Hundred Inc. of Lancaster for the correctional facility. The cost for both appliances and installation is $21,708, which includes shipping, a one-year warranty and labor.
• Approved a lease agreement with St. Luke’s Carbon Campus for lease of approximately 10,000 square feet of space inside the 525 Iron St., Lehighton, building. The site currently houses the wound care center for St. Luke’s.
Rent for the first year will be $1,666.67 per month and the second year will be $1,716.67 per month.

• Resignation: Caroline B. Fuentes of Nesquehoning, sergeant, corrections, effective April 19.
• Prison board appointments: Allison N. Hein of Pottsville and Thalia M. Torres of Summit Hill, corrections officers, effective April 11; and Stephen M. Yuricheck of Nesquehoning, corrections officer, effective April 25.
• Appointment: Daniel A. Miscavige of Weatherly, board member of the board of assessment appeals, effective April 21.
• Hire as recommended by department supervisor: Valerie A. Saveri of Jim Thorpe, legal secretary III, public defender, effective May 16.
• Changes of status: Julie A. Walker of Jim Thorpe, from TANF caseworker to administrator, WIOA, effective April 28; and Jade J. Washousky of Summit Hill, from social services aide I to social services aide II, Children and Youth, effective April 25.
