Carbon County is reminding residents who applied for mail-in ballots that they should be seeing them in their mailboxes shortly.

On Thursday, Commissioners’ Chairman Wayne Nothstein said that the elections office mailed 2,554 mail-in ballots and 200 absentee ballots have been mailed out.

He said that if voters who applied for these two types of ballots do not receive them in a week, they should call the elections office.

The 2022 primary election is May 17 in Pennsylvania.

Important dates to remember are:

• May 2: last day to register before the primary.

• May 10: Last day to apply for a mail-in or civilian absentee ballot.

• May 17: Last day for the county boards of elections to receive voted mail-in and civilian absentee ballots. These must be received in the Carbon County office, located at 44 Susquehanna St., Jim Thorpe, by 8 p.m.
