Polk Township supervisors
The Polk Township supervisors took the following action Monday evening:
• Chairman Brian Ahner said that any township resident who picks up trash along the roads can call the office, and the road crew will come around to pick up the bags. The supervisors appreciate residents’ help keeping the roads clean.
• Billy Tippett, chief of Polk Township Volunteer Fire Company, announced that the next all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet will be May 15 from 7 to 11:30 a.m. He and zoning officer Tracy Herman are working on a nuisance fire alarm ordinance.
• The Park and Recreation Committee is working on a Greater Lehigh Valley grant for $2,000 to purchase picnic tables and trees for the nature park. Their Polk Township Education Day scheduled for May 1 has been postponed until the fall, due to lack of vendor participation. Their next meeting is April 28 at 6 p.m. in the pavilion.
• The Veterans Memorial committee is gearing up for their Memorial Day event on May 29, 2 p.m., at the memorial at Trach Road and Interchange Road in Kresgeville. Supervisors approved $750 to buy a new sign and two new flags before their rededication event. If there is inclement weather, the event will be indoors at Salem-St. Paul Lutheran Church across the street.
• There will be a public hearing at 6:15 p.m. on May 23 to discuss the SALDO amendment pertaining to recreational fees. Then at 6:30 p.m., there will be a conditional use hearing for 1058 Interchange Road, Gilbert. The monthly supervisors meeting begins at 7 p.m.
• Supervisors voted in favor of preparing bid documents to replace the recycling building’s roof. They are holding off on repairing the salt building’s roof until a later date.
