Monroe County man pleads guilty to bank robbery

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced that Terrance Tyson, 45, of East Stroudsburg, pleaded guilty to bank robbery on April 12, before U.S. District Court Judge Robert D. Mariani.

Judge Mariani ordered that a presentence investigation take place. Sentencing will be scheduled at a later date.

Court papers say Tyson admitted robbing the NBT Bank located in East Stroudsburg, on Sept. 24, 2019. Tyson stole approximately $5,226.

The charges against the defendant resulted from an investigation conducted by the Stroud Area Regional Police Department and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force. Assistant United States Attorney Robert J. O’Hara is prosecuting the case.

This case is being prosecuted as part of the joint federal, state, and local Project Safe Neighborhoods Program, the centerpiece of the Department of Justice’s violent crime reduction efforts.

Under federal law, Tyson faces a maximum sentence of up to 20 years in prison, a term of supervised release following imprisonment, and a fine. A sentence following a finding of guilt is imposed by the Judge after consideration of the applicable federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
