The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced that Brian T. Labar, 45, of East Stroudsburg, was sentenced last week to 70 months’ imprisonment to be followed by four years of supervised release by U.S. District Court Judge Malachy E. Mannion for distribution of 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.
According to United States Attorney John C. Gurganus, Labar previously admitted that he distributed one half pound of crystal methamphetamine for $3,350. Labar was arrested by authorities after he and another individual delivered the methamphetamine to a confidential informant on Dec. 13, 2019, in the parking lot of the Eagle Valley Mall, Stroud Township.
The case was investigated by the DEA and the Pennsylvania State Police. Assistant U.S. Attorney Todd K. Hinkley prosecuted the case.
This case is being prosecuted as part of the joint federal, state and local Project Safe Neighborhoods Program, the centerpiece of the Department of Justice’s violent crime reduction efforts. PSN is an evidence-based program proven to be effective at reducing violent crime. Through PSN, a broad spectrum of stakeholders work together to identify the most pressing violent crime problems in the community and develop comprehensive solutions to address them. As part of this strategy, PSN focuses enforcement efforts on the most violent offenders and partners with locally based prevention and reentry programs for lasting reductions in crime.
