Blue Mountain gears up for spring openings of ‘Green’ Outdoor Adventures

Blue Mountain Resort will open its downhill mountain bike park and Summit Adventure park in mid-May.

New this year is Blue Mountain’s inaugural Trail Running Camp for runners of all skill levels, taking place from April 29 through May 1.

The resort’s camping and glamping facilities will open to the public May 1.

The resort’s inaugural Trail Running Camp will kick off the season on Blue Mountain with a three-day event with limited space created for all skill levels led by coaching staff trained to analyze running form and recommend nutrition tips for proper fueling and sustainable training. Participants stay at the resort’s basic campsite with amenities.

Group activities such as “Get to Know Camp Crew Campfire,” group runs, sunset trail hike and yoga are available. Lunches, dinners and a sustainable sponsor pack are provided.

Blue Mountain’s Bike Park will be opening to season passholders May 14, and to the general public on May 21 and remain open through October.

Boasting Pennsylvania’s largest downhill mountain park, mountain bikers navigate Blue Mountain Bike Park’s 28 trails. The trip up the hill is provided by the high-speed Comet Quad Lift.

There are trails for all levels, and beginner downhill lessons are offered.

Blue Mountain Summit Adventure Park will open on May 14, with ropes course challenge, free fall or zip line from the Adventure Tower, a rock-climbing wall, outdoor laser tag is a challenging high-tech team sport. Nighttime zip lining and climbing under the stars with laser lights and glow sticks is held every Friday night through the season.

Summit Adventure Park is open on Saturdays and Sundays only and will expand hours on June 16 to open Thursday through Sunday.

Camping and glamping opens May 1 through October.

Basic glamping includes 10-by-12-foot canvas tent, bunk beds with full-sized mattresses, a solar light, wooden deck with Adirondack chairs, picnic table, Coleman cooler and more. Deluxe glamping sites provide the comforts of home while glampers reconnect with nature at the Summit portion of the mountain at a site that delivers big mountain views or seclusion in the woods.

Amenities include queen-sized bunk beds, a charging station, solar shower, fire ring with a grate and more, and food packages can be ordered and delivered from Slopeside Pub & Grill.
