Homeless families in the Northern Lehigh School District have received gas cards thanks to the goodness of an anonymous family.

Superintendent Matthew J. Link announced at Monday’s school board meeting that the district received a $1,000 donation to go directly toward gas cards to go to homeless families in the district.

“Sometimes we have families who for one reason or another find themselves homeless,” Link said. “They are still able to attend our schools even if they’re doubled up somewhere else.”

Link said the district is grateful to the family for the sizable contribution.

“We move to get transportation in place for them quickly, but as you know, it’s not always a next morning type of arrangement to put the transportation in place, so we issued the families gas cards,” he said. “This is one way that we are able to support these families, and through a very generous family in the district, they donated $1,000 toward gas cards.”
