Carbon County court — ARD

Five defendants in pending criminal cases were placed in Carbon County’s Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program on Monday by Judge Steven R. Serfass.

If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program, their record will be wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete it, or are revoked from it, then they would face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.

Placed were the following:

Colin Blaney Ferry, 21, of Newtown Square, Delaware County, was placed for six months on a charge of institutional vandalism. He was arrested on July 10, 2021, by state police at Lehighton and damaged state police property.

He was assessed $450 for the cost of the program and ordered to render 25 hours of community service and make restitution to the state police for $661.95.

Dokata Manuel Kidd, 18, of Albrightsville, was placed for a year on a felony 3 count of theft. He was arrested by state police at Fern Ridge for his part in the theft of motorcycle(s) and parts.

He was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and make restitution of $500.

Joseph T. Lewis III,Samantha Sapp,William C. Steigerwalt, 63, of Lansford, was placed for a year on a charge of harassment - communication of lewd, threatening manner. He was arrested on Sept. 7, 2021, by Jim Thorpe police.

He was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service, get mental health evaluation and have no contact with the victim.

Each defendant must also pay court costs of over $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
