Habitat helps out with house repairs

Bright and early Saturday morning, members of the Calvary Chapel Young Adult volunteer group in Sciota joined forces with Monroe County Habitat for Humanity to paint the inside of home in Albrightsville.

“Habitat for Humanity recently replaced the roof and while there was some water damage from when the roof leaked, so the group volunteered to come back and paint the inside the house,” said Kelly Kemmerer, Executive Director of Monroe County Habitat for Humanity.

The little house was filled with young adult volunteers, who all seemed to be more than happy to paint the ceilings and other areas that needed to be painted.

Lots of laughing and kidding could be heard as the volunteers carefully maneuvered their buckets of paint and rollers in the small home.

One main focus for Monroe County Habitat for Humanity is home preservation. This program allows homeowners who are affected by low income, old age or disability to make the necessary repairs on their homes.

When these critical repairs are not made, homes can potentially become condemned. There is a great need for these repairs in Monroe County.
