Bowmanstown to spend nearly $60,000 on street project

A street project could cost Bowmanstown just shy of $60,000.

Borough council on a 6-0 vote Tuesday agreed to have John Davis put a bid package together for the street work.

Borough engineer Jessica Rehrig estimated the street project would cost $58,998.

Of that, $21,058 is to tar and chip Ore Street from Fireline Road to the Dead End, while the other $37,940 is to overlay Lime Street to Sander Street, and Sander to Southwest 475’.

Also on Tuesday, council approved a proposal for engineering services in the amount of $10,000 to have Rehrig put together the bid package for the White Street inlet project.

A portion of the borough’s COVID-19 Relief Funds are being used to repair the three inlets on White Street. The highway occupancy permit is good until March 2023.

Craig Street project

Rehrig said there were no work activities to report due to the winter weather.

She said project plans were issued to the Water Authority engineer, and that comments from the Water Authority meeting were to insulate the water main where the drainage inlets are located adjacent to the main, and redesign the proposed curb to provide 5 feet of clearance from the main.

Council agreed to add insulation to the area behind the storm boxes, and do a macadam rolled curb, which will cost less for the project.
