The office of third assistant district attorney was established by the Carbon County Salary Board, acting on the recommendation of District Attorney Richard W. Webb.

The job was filled by William E. McDonald of Lansford. He will join Webb, first assistant district attorney Michael Garfield and second assistant district attorney Gary Dobias.McDonald's new duties will include prosecution of criminal defendants, while, at the same time, he will continue to include domestic relations matters referred to the DA's office, including non-support and paternity cases. His salary was set at $10,000.
