The Jim Thorpe Police Department will host its eighth annual Policeman's Ball onApril 16.

This formal attire event will be held at Jim Thorpe Memorial Hall from 6 p.m. until midnight.Tickets are $50 per person, which includes an open bar, hors d'oeuvres, candlelight dinner and dancing. Entertainment will be provided by Aaron Boner of iHeart Radio.This event is open to the public. A basket raffle will take place during the ball, with prizes from a variety of businesses throughout the county.Proceeds from this year's event will benefit the Jim Thorpe located nonprofit organization, Turn to Us.The mission of Turn to Us is to advocate for people and their families who are experiencing the impact of both major and chronic illnesses by providing support and connection with available resources.Over 275 people attended last year's event to help support the cause Autism Speaks.Tickets can be purchased at the Jim Thorpe Police Department, Jim Thorpe Borough Office or by contacting the police department at 570-325-4995.For more information, visit the Jim Thorpe Policeman's Ball Facebook page.
