Spring carnival full of fun
Complete with animals, rides and food, it's every child's dream come true.
That explains why the Palmerton Borough Park has been bustling with activity since the 10th annual Crusaders for a Cause Spring Carnival opened Thursday.Timothy Finken of Palmerton brought his daughter, Kinzley, 4, to the carnival."I like it," Finken said. "It's fun for the kids."Stephanie Brandon, who accompanied her son, Michael Brandon, 6, agreed."We're just having fun," she said.Across the park, Trevor Hottenstein watched as his 3-year-old son, Xzavor, petted a tortoise and later rode a pony."It's nice; something to do," Hottenstein said. "He likes the tortoise."Over by the rides, Hailie Unterberg of Kunkletown watched as her son, Kaden Ratliff, rode down the Super Slide."This is our first time," Unterberg said. "It's very kid-friendly, and the prices are very reasonable."New to this year's event is a taco stand, said Christina Obrecht, president of Crusaders for a Cause."So far, it looks like a beautiful weekend," Obrecht said. "Hopefully people come out and enjoy it."The carnival continues from 4-11 p.m. today, and 2-7 p.m. Sunday. Parking and admission are free.There will be live entertainment today from the bands 3 a.m. and Justus.Sunday is Kids Ride Special Day, which comes with a ride discount.There are also various craft and food vendors as well.Obrecht said proceeds raised will go to a local charity or charities.Crusaders for a Cause was incorporated in May 2009, and raises money for charities, including Relay For Life/American Cancer Society, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, March of Dimes and many other community causes or projects.For more information:
