Carbon County court — Sentencing

The following defendants were sentenced by Judge Joseph J. Matika having previously entered guilty pleas.

Amanda L. Stuckley, 37, of Lehighton, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, pay a fine of $1,500, license suspended for 18 months, render 100 hours of community service and supply a DNA sample.

She was arrested on July 23, 2017, by Lehighton police along East Alley. At the time she had her 1-year-old son in the vehicle. A charge of endangering the welfare of a child was dropped in a plea deal with the district attorney’s office. The sentence runs concurrent with a term she is currently serving in the county prison.

The case has a long history with 24 continuances filed in the matter.

Barry Lee Lower, 21, of Jim Thorpe, was placed in the house arrest program for six months with the first 10 days spent on electronic monitoring and ordered to pay a fine of $1,000 and license suspended for a year. On a summary offense he was fined $25 and costs.

He was arrested on Feb. 18 by state police at Lehighton for DUI of a controlled substance along Route 443 at Penn Street in Lehighton.

Beth A. White, 36, of Lehighton, was sentenced to serve 30 days to two years in prison, pay a fine of $1,000, license suspended for 18 months, render 100 hours of community service and supply a DNA sample. On a summary offense she was fined $200 and costs.

She was arrested on July 31, 2020, by Lehighton police along Bridge Street. At the time she had a 13-year-old female in the vehicle. A charge of endangering the welfare of a child was dropped in a plea deal.

She will begin the jail term at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 7 and serve it on consecutive two-day weekends.

Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs of over $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
