Area artist to showcase 4 decades of work

Edith Roeder, a former Palmerton resident, will showcase over 50 paintings that span over 40 years during a one-woman show at Laura’s Custom Framing and Fine Arts, 1328 Chestnut St., Emmaus this month.

Roeder is celebrating her 99th birthday with this show, which begins on Friday with a reception from 5 to 8 p.m. The exhibition runs through Nov. 23.

At 99, she cooks, makes her own clothes with hats to match, gardens and paints every day.

Roeder was an English teacher at Slatington High School for 25 years before retiring in 1981, and her works have graced many local sites, including the Palmerton Hospital.
