Harry Packer Mansion hosts Nutcracker tours

The Harry Packer Mansion in Jim Thorpe is again hosting its “Nutcracker Holiday Displays” self-guided tour on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for the holiday season.

The tours kick off Nov. 29 and run through the end of December.

Tours are open to the public and are available between 4 and 9 p.m. on Fridays, and 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. There is an admission fee for anyone 8 years old and older.

Special fundraisers for area nonprofits are also available during the first three weeks of December.

From 4 to 7 p.m. on Dec. 4, tours will be available to benefit the Lehighton Area Lioness Lions Club.

Light refreshments will be served during the Lehighton Lioness Lions tours, and there will be a chance for a drawing for a nutcracker. Children who dress up will receive a ticket for a free drawing for a gift.

From 4 to 6 p.m. on Dec. 10, tours will be available and will benefit Carbon County Friends of Animals.

During that fundraiser, shelter officials ask that visitors bring monetary or items from the shelter’s wishlist for entry.

The Harry Packer Mansion is located at 19 Packer Ave.
