The Carbon County Area Vocational Technical School hired a replacement for retiring administrative director Lyle Augustine Jr. who has served in that role for nine years.

Chyleen Slone, currently the assistant principal of the Cumberland Perry Area Vocational Technical School in Mechanicsburg, was approved by the operating committee on a unanimous vote last night.

Twelve people applied for the post but only the certified candidates were interviewed by the committee.

Slone, who has spent about her entire career in education, will work one day a week from January through mid-February during the transition of Augustine’s departure.
