The greatest community spirit in years was shown Sunday afternoon when the Slatedale Fire Company played host to many other fire companies in Lehigh County for a truck parade that was held as part of the dedication of a new John Bean High Pressure Pumper Truck.

Kenneth Boyer, president of the company, and John Zeller, vice president, highlighted the program, with speakers including state Rep. Joseph Zeller of Emmaus and William Thompson, fire chief of the City of Allentown. Creighton Miller was the master of ceremonies.

Company members Russell Rauch, fire chief for 20 years, and Clayton Vogel, 42 years as recording secretary, were honored at the event.
