The Rotary Club of Slatington has once again teamed up with Giant Food Store in Walnutport.
Their goal: To collect monetary or nonperishable goods donations during the 113th Northern Lehigh Halloween Parade.
The parade will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday. The rain date is 6 p.m. Sunday.
Spectators are asked for nonperishable goods and monetary donations for the Northern Lehigh Food Bank, said Eric Heiney, president elect, Rotary Club of Slatington.
“Rotary members and Giant volunteers will be walking in the parade with Giant shopping carts to collect your donations,” Heiney said. “Please help us fill our carts for the Northern Lehigh Food Bank.”
Heiney said the Northern Lehigh Food Bank provides food for an average of 220 households each month.
“These are children, seniors and others in need right here in our community,” he said. “The need for donations has always been here, but COVID has impacted each household differently.”
Heiney noted that these families count on the food bank for their next meal.
“Your donation may be helping a friend or neighbor,” he said. “With Thanksgiving nearing, please consider donating any free turkey coupons you will not be using.”
