The Carbon County Commissioners yesterday approved the request of Thomas Shaughnessy, the county’s planning director, for the appointment of two men in his office under on-the-job training.

They are John Komishock, Beaver Meadows, assistant rehabilitation specialist, and Francis A. Spokas, Jim Thorpe, formerly of Lake Hauto, assistant planner. Each will receive $7,500 a year.

Spokas has been serving as assistant to Homer Edwards, Penn Forest Township, executive assistant in the Carbon County Conservation District office.

Both men were employed previously under the county’s Manpower program (SCAM) and their salaries for the first six months will be paid jointly by the county and the program.
