A Northampton County driver has been charged with hit-and-run for an incident in Monroe County.
State police at Lehighton said the incident occurred at 12:55 a.m. on Aug. 21 along Long Mountain Road in Polk Township. Troopers said Steven K. Kaiser, 32, of Easton, was driving a 2021 Toyota Tacoma truck southbound when he claimed he swerved to avoid a deer on the roadway. The truck left the road and struck a utility pole. The pole was knocked down, troopers said, blocking both lanes of travel.
Kaiser arranged to be picked up and left the scene without notifying police. He was not injured.
He was charged with immediate notice of accident to police - hit and run.
