The Craig Street reconstruction project will cost Bowmanstown nearly $700,000.

On a 4-0 vote, borough council on Tuesday awarded a bid to Lehigh Asphalt Paving and Construction Inc. in the amount of $697,022.

That bid was $61,811 less than the next lowest bid of $758,833 turned in by Grace Industries. A total of five companies bid on the project.

Other companies and their bids were Bruce George Paving and Excavating Inc. ($768,214), Kobalt Construction ($833,603), and Ankiewicz Enterprises Inc. ($1,278,995).

It was noted that the amount of the grant that was available is $750,697.

Councilman Darren Thomas, along with councilwomen Donna Winter and Candace Rodrigues were absent.
