Only $75 separated two bids for lagoon cleaning at the Still Creek Water Treatment Plant, which is part of the Tamaqua Water Authority. Bids were opened Tuesday.
Tamaqua Public Works Director Bob Jones said the bids are for three cleanings during a five-year period. There are two lagoons, and each one holds 350,000 gallons. Each lagoon is cleaned every other year, and the sediment that's removed is applied to land.Custom Ag Services/Zimmerman Farms, Marietta, bid $82,425. Commonwealth Disposal Inc., Harrisburg, bid $82,500. The bid will be awarded when the Tamaqua Water Authority meets Monday.
